OUTFiT | So Underdressed

There is always that question before you leave the house if one is invited to an occasion. What to wear? And if one cannot decide, the seemingly second question will be "Is it better to be overdressed or underdressed?" Perhaps I am one of those who would like to look a little nice before walking out door. No, I do not exactly mind what others think of me. How I look at myself is more important. That's why I pick clothes that I believe will bring out the best version of me.

I say there are a lot of opinions as to what is appropriate or what is not having fashion as art. Art is fashion. If you are confused on what to put on, just remember this:

"...looking the right way for an event is more than simply a personal choice. Proper attire says a lot about a person. For one, it says you are a mature adult who understands social norms and secondly (most importantly) it shows that you respect your host enough to dress the part."

This is also something that I have to bear in mind as I, too, was a clueless puppy on proper dress code. Thus, the reason for sharing this with you all.

A few months back, my family and I were invited to watch a concert. I instantly thought of wearing my short blue semi-formal dress. But seeing my Father in jeans made me change my mind. I thought, maybe because the venue for the event was 4 hours away from the City (without traffic), comfortability comes first before style. And so, I went for this orange embroidered lace dress. To match my Dad, I grabbed my denim jacket, accessorized and wore flats to go for that simple yet decent look instead.

Huge mistake! Imagine my horror to see ladies in long embellished gowns, and gentlemen in suit and tie as we arrived at the scene. Good thing my sister was performing that night and was already at the venue. So to deal with the damage, I borrowed her extra pair of heels, took my jacket off and bore with the freezing concert hall! LOL. I did learn my lesson from this experience! And that's trust your instinct and wear a stylish blazer to stay on the safe side of attire decorum.
